Wavelengths staff and customers climb great heights for charity

Monday, 22nd June 2015

A group of customers and staff from Pendle Wavelengths in Nelson, climbed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks to raise money for Pendleside Hospice.

A total of 49 people, including nine members of staff, took part in the gruelling feat on Saturday, May 30th walking the 24 miles up and down Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.

Moving People kindly provided a coach to transport the walkers to and from the Yorkshire Dales starting point.

Throughout May, participants were training as part of the 12 Month Gym Challenge at Pendle Wavelengths. Each month a different challenge is set to keep gym-users motivated and add variety to their fitness programmes.

Centre Manager at Pendle Wavelengths, Quammer Iqbal, said: “We wanted to link in a social aspect to our monthly challenge to keep our customers enthusiastic and focused on their training. We decided to also support a local worthy cause and raise money for Pendleside Hospice.

“The 3 Peaks challenge was tough, but as a team we were all there to support each other and and complete it together.”

Each fund-raiser has donated £5 to take part in the event and they are all raising money through sponsorship as well. Pendle Leisure Trust would like to give a massive congratulations and thank you to all of those who took part in Pendle Wavelengths' Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge who raised an impressive £3570 for Pendleside Hospice.
