The community scheme is a therapeutic horticultural programme run by Pendle Leisure Trust and funded by the National Lottery. Based at Hodge House Allotments in Nelson, its aim is to improve the health and well-being of individuals who may be isolated, inactive or have mild to moderate mental health issues.
The Good Life Project Manager, Kathy Titterton, said: “Like everything else this year and last, the Coronavirus pandemic has disrupted normal life and affected so many people in different ways – making support for those with mental health issues even more important.
“The Good Life Project is a lifeline to many local people who rely on us to provide vital social connections and therapeutic activities. This all helps to maintain health and well-being and many are scared this pandemic will leave them isolated and vulnerable.
“This crisis has hit us hard, but we believe our message of the health and well-being benefits of gardening is even more relevant at this time. This is why we are asking for financial support.
“Making a donation is a way of reaching out a helping hand. By providing even a small amount, you can be part of The Good Life Project in providing a vital service to your local community.
“With your help, we can support people to improve their confidence, skills and well-being, by reducing isolation and building relationships and we guarantee 100% of all donations will fund The Good Life Project.
“Any donation will be invaluable in ensuring this invaluable programme can continue in the future to support our beneficiaries who rely heavily on what we do.”
