Over 100 people turned up at Victoria Park in Nelson, for the first free Summer Tai Chi session on Tuesday.
The event was officially opened by the Mayor and Mayoress of Pendle, Councillor David Whalley and Mrs Barbara Whalley, who were joined by the Chief Executive of Pendle Leisure Trust, Alison Goode, and other supporters and sponsors of the free sessions.
Health Checks were also available for those participants wanting a mini MOT while they were there.
Lighthouse Tai Chi owner and instructor, David Pelling, said: “Last Summer more than 35 people took part each week, building on the success of our first event in 2015.
“People of all ages and abilities and from all communities joined in to enjoy this healthy outdoor activity.
“Today’s turnout has been fantastic. There has been an overwhelming response and everyone is welcome to join us again for the next few weeks to do as much or little as they want.”
The free, hour-long, follow along sessions are being held every Tuesday throughout August, 1.30pm – 2.30pm, on the bowling green behind the Pavillion Café off Carr Road, Nelson. No need to book, just turn up.
The Summer Tai Chi in the Park sessions are sponsored by Pendle Leisure Trust, Up & Active, Pendle Council, Lancashire County Council and Marsden Building Society.
Weekly sessions by Lighthouse Tai Chi are held at Pendle Leisure Trust’s three centres – Pendle Wavelengths, Nelson, Pendle Leisure Centre, Colne and West Craven Sports Centre, Barnoldswick. Check the website www.pendleleisuretrust.co.uk for days and times.
