Stay 'Up and Active' at Home

Wednesday, 6th May 2020

Pendle Leisure Trust’s Up and Active team has been working with the Together an Active Pendle (TaAP) team to develop a range of activities to support local residents of all ages during the Coronavirus crisis.

Through its website, the team is providing tips, advice and guidance on how to keep or get active in and around the house - and encouraging people to use Sport England’s #StayInWorkOut and #ALittleBitMoreAtHome workouts.

Together an Active Pendle’s Programme Manager, Chris Rigby, said: We’ve pulled together a selection of online exercise videos and websites to help people be active during COVID-19.

“Under the heading ‘From Seat to Feet and Feet to Street’, there are a selection of individual ideas and exercises for all the family – from children, older people, new mums and mums-to-be, to those with health conditions or disabilities – there’s something for everyone to join in with to get moving and keep active while stuck at home.”

Pendle Leisure Trust’s Up and Active Manager, Clive Escreet, added: “It’s really important to get the heart pumping and even though people are confined to their homes, they need to do something - even if it’s just for 10 minutes a day. This will not only help physically, but help with mental health and well-being as well.

“The website is really helpful, clear and concise and easy to navigate and we hope it will help and support Pendle’s residents during this difficult time.

“The Pendle Up and Active team has also been contacting some of our Cardiac Rehabilitation and Healthy Lifestyles clients to keep in touch and offer advice about keeping active. We have also been putting workouts on social media and produced an activity diary and suggestions for children at home.”
