Pendle Leisure Trust Raises over £2,000 for Pendleside Hospice

Thursday, 7th June 2018

Almost 100 Pendle Leisure Trust staff and fitness members took on a huge challenge to raise money for Pendleside Hospice.

Scores of fundraisers climbed Pendle’s Three Peaks - Pendle Hill, Weets and Bouldsworth – a total of 27 miles – and raised a staggering £2,641.87.

Staff and members from Pendle Leisure Trust’s leisure centres – Pendle Wavelengths, Nelson; Pendle Leisure Centre, Colne; Seedhill Athletics and Fitness Centre, Nelson and West Craven Sports Centre, Barnoldswick – took on the gruelling task.

The Trust’s Gym Manager, Luke Allwood, said: “Every year we host a challenge for our members. For the last couple of years we have completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks, but this year we wanted to do something new and different, so we devised our own challenge – Pendle Three Peaks.

We always have such a great response from our members who want to challenge themselves and put into practice the training they have done in the gym, and this was no different. A total of 98 people took part in the event and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, although it was tough!

Most of them completed the whole 27 miles, with the usual encouragement from Pendle Leisure Trust staff and fellow members to help each other to reach the finishing line.

And some members who didn’t want to walk acted as marshals on the day, which was a great help. All in all it was a real team effort – and a fantastic amount of money was raised for a very worthy local cause.
