A group of customers and gym staff from Pendle Leisure Trust are to climb the Yorkshire 3 Peaks to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
More than 100 people have signed up to take part in the gruelling feat on Saturday, July 15th, to walk the 24 miles up and down Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.
Throughout the last few months participants have been training at Pendle Wavelengths, Nelson, Pendle Leisure Centre, Colne and West Craven Sports Centre in Barnoldswick, in preparation for the Summer Challenge.
Pendle Leisure Trust’s Health and Fitness Manager, Luke Allwood, said: “We wanted to link in a social aspect to keep our customers enthusiastic and focused on their training.
“This will be the third time we have done this challenge. The last two years have been a great success with everyone thoroughly enjoying themselves and proud of their achievements. A few people have even set themselves personal goals to better the time they have done in the past.
“The 3 Peaks Challenge will be tough, but as a team we will be there to support each other and hopefully all complete it together.”
Each fund-raiser has donated £5 to take part in the event and they are all raising money through sponsorship as well for the British Heart Foundation.
