Throughout the Summer, over 15,000 fitness users across Pendle, Burnley, Blackburn, Hyndburn, Ribble Valley, Skipton and the Lake District were set a challenge by the Active Network fitness challenge. Participants were encouraged to swim, go to the gym or attend aerobic classes in order to complete the challenge and be entered into a prize draw.
And it was one of our very own who won the challenge! Christine Clarke, who is a regular swimmer at our centres, was drawn as Active Network's champion and won a brand new tablet.
The Active Network, created in 2011 by six local authorities and leisure trusts helps people to enjoy physical activity and access their local leisure facilities. Over 12,000 visits per year are now made across the Active Network group as the scheme has grown to include 2 more local authorities and 21 leisure centres in total.
The network is free to over 15,000 members on certain health & fitness memberships in each of the areas.
