Customers and staff at Pendle Wavelengths and West Craven Sports Centre have joined forces to raise money for Diabetes UK.
A total of 13 people swam great lengths as part of Diabetes UK’s Swim 22 Challenge. Spread out over 3 months, participants are challenged to swim the lengths of the English Channel (22 miles). The challenge itself was devised to help raise awareness of the condition and funds to support the charity’s important work.
Between 22 February and 22 May, a dedicated group of charity swimmers undertook the challenge and raised an impressive £712. Members of Wavelengths’ and West Craven’s staff also undertook their own challenge to join in on the charity effort.
Centre Manager, Iqbal Quammer said: “We just want to thank all of those who took part and helped play a pivotal part in raising money for charity.
We have such a fantastic group of members who are always loyal to us and we want to keep helping them achieve their fitness goals. Pendle Leisure Trust enjoy such a loyal and determined customer base who selflessly use fitness as a resource for charitable causes.”
