A new club for local youngsters has been introduced at West Craven Sports Centre in Barnoldswick.
West Craven Community Club has been set up by Pendle Leisure Trust, with the help of a grant from County Councillor David Whipp’s Local Member Grant Scheme from Lancashire County Council.
“I’m delighted to help set up this great weekly club for youngsters in West Craven,” said Councillor Whipp. “It’s a priority for me to see plenty of activities for children and young people – it’s a good investment that’s fun for the kids!”
The idea behind this multi-sport/health educational hub is to provide a safe, welcoming and non-intimidating environment for local youngsters to enjoy a host of sporting activities in a bid to keep them fit and healthy.
The free, fun and informal sessions are held on Wednesdays between 5pm and 6pm during term-time only and run by the Up and Active Sports Development Coaches.
For ages 10-16 years, the sessions include various sports, such as Short Tennis, Basketball, Badminton, Football and Dodgeball.
The Wednesday evening activities, which will run until the July Summer Holidays, have been funded mainly by the Local Member Grants Scheme, with support from Pendle Leisure Trust and the Up and Active team.
No booking required, just turn up at West Craven Sports Centre and join in the fun!
