One of the original members of the Colne exercising suite was shocked and delighted with the efforts her friends had made.
Joyce has been a member of the Feelgood Factory at Pendle Leisure Centre since it opened nine years ago, attending three times a week to keep herself fit and active.
Feelgood Factory instructor, Barbara Standage, said: “Joyce has been with us since the Feelgood Factory first opened. Reaching 89 years of age is quite a feat and we wanted to help her celebrate, so we had a little party, with one of the other members – Joanne Henderson – making her a special cake.
“Joyce was delighted and overwhelmed, adding: ‘what a lot of good and generous friends I have’.
“A lot of the members have been attending the fitness suite for a number of years and become really good friends. The Feelgood Factory is not just about keeping fit, there’s a great social aspect to it as well which a lot of the members enjoy.”
The Feelgood Factory offers a range of power-assisted machines providing the right level of resistance for each client’s needs and capabilities.
The equipment has been designed for use by anyone, regardless of age, mobility or fitness level and is perfect for people recovering from a stroke or heart condition, those with multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, ME, arthritis or back pain, or anyone with limited mobility.
