Jessica Foxley Unsigned - Meet your finalists

Saturday, 4th July 2015

Following a large number of responses and a host of auditions, seven of the best unsigned blues artistes in the country have now been chosen to play as part of the Jessica Foxley Unsigned initiative at this year’s Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival.

Adenland, Anjelica Cleaver, Catfish, Good Foxy, Jack Blackman, John Bird and Tales of Two Counties will have their chance to wow the crowds at the British Stage, at Pendle Leisure Centre and the Acoustic Stage, at the Muni Theatre over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

We were inundated with auditions and of the large number that applied, the final seven were chosen following much deliberation by a panel of judges at The ACE Centre in Nelson.

Festival organiser, Alison Goode, said: “The standard of the musicians who applied this year was remarkable. Once again we have found some really talented young people who can showcase themselves and their music at this fantastic event.”

For the last 26 years, Colne’s Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival has drawn in both national, and international lovers of blues music with the bands chosen now earning their opportunity to write themselves into the legacy.

Jessica Foxley Unsigned (formerly The Jessica Foxley Stage) was set up in 2010 in memory of Jessica, a talented musician who worked at the Muni Theatre Box Office in Colne, who died the previous year in a car crash at the age of 21.

For the last five years, Jessica Foxley Unsigned has ensured that Jessica’s memory has lived on through her love of music and it has since given unsigned artistes the opportunity to kick-start a music career.

Recently named as Europe’s Best Blues Festival for the second year running, it is expected that more than 20,000 people will flock to Colne during the four day Festival.
