Blues Festival catapults more artistes' careers

Wednesday, 30th September 2015

Each year, The Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival invites the best in unsigned musical talent to audition for their chance to perform at Europe's Best Blues Festival.

The auditions have been held ever since 2010 in memory of Jessica Foxley, a talented musician who sadly lost her life. The Jessica Foxley Unsigned initiative has since gone on to unearth some of the best up and coming artistes from all over the UK, with the Festival giving them the perfect opportunity to kick-start their careers.

We were inundated with entrants who all battled it out for their chance to perform at the 26th year of Colne's Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival and of the many who applied, only 6 prevailed. The talented artistes all impressed and many have since gone from strength to strength with their careers starting to grow at an exciting pace.

Tales of Two Counties

Formed in 2013, Tales of Two Counties are a Folk/Rockgrass band with members from Lancashire and Yorkshire and a strong cult following from both sides of the Pennines too. The band made the Matthew Clark British Stage their own when they performed on Sunday 30th and have since gone on to release their first music video.

Good Foxy

The 5 piece band from Ribble Valley boasts an impressive following across the regional amateur music scene. Having supported the legendary Status Quo in July, the unsigned act will brought a real air of confidence which meant they held their own amongst some of the world's biggest blues artistes. Having recently been featured on ITV Granada Reports and BBC North West, Good Foxy have gone on to release their debut album.
