A group of customers and staff from Pendle Wavelengths, are to climb the Yorkshire 3 Peaks to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of former Pendle Leisure Trust employee Ian Britton.
A total of 100 people are expected to take part in the gruelling feat on Saturday, May 28th and hope to take between 10 and 12 hours to walk the 24 miles up and down Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.
Throughout May, participants will be training as part of the 12 Month Gym Challenge at Pendle Wavelengths. Each month a different challenge is set to keep gym-users motivated and add variety to their fitness programmes.
Pendle Leisure Trust’s Fitness Manager, Anthony Slater, said: “We wanted to link in a social aspect to our monthly challenge to keep our customers enthusiastic and focused on their training. So for this month we decided to also support a worthy cause and raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of our very dear friend and colleague.
“The 3 Peaks challenge will be tough, but as a team we will be there to support each other and hopefully all complete it together.”
Each fund-raiser has donated £5 to take part in the event and they are all raising money through sponsorship as well.
