Tai Chi and can it help me?

Sunday, 26th January 2020

As you get older, taking up the ancient practice of Tai Chi may help your health and well-being.

Tai Chi is a mind-body technique that involves carrying out a series of slow, gentle movements. Often hailed for its stress-relieving effects, Tai Chi combines these movements with deep breathing and meditation.

Often referred to as ‘meditation in motion’, Tai Chi has been found to enhance stability and help prevent falls in older individuals. Along with this, it has also been known to help manage a wide range of chronic health troubles, including arthritis, chronic lower back pain and fibromyalgia.

Tai Chi can also help to relieve stress and improve your mood, sleep and general quality of life.

In partnership with Lighthouse Tai Chi – celebrating its 10th anniversary this year - 2019 saw a healthy growth in attendance of sessions at Pendle Leisure Trust’s facilities.

Co-owners and instructors, Helena Kean and David Pelling, presented certificates to their top attendees in 2019 to help motivate them for 2020 and prove hard work is rewarded.

With Tai Chi in the Park expanding in 2020, to become a weekend touring event at four parks in Pendle and World Tai Chi Day on Saturday April 25th, it is very much the year for Tai Chi in Pendle. With great health benefits, a friendly, social feel and instructors who really care for each participant, it would be a shame to not participate.
