A group of Pendle Leisure Trust staff and customers completed The Great North Run on Sunday – and raised more than £1,000 for Pendleside Hospice in the process.
The country’s favourite Half Marathon, which was won again by Mo Farrah, was a first time achievement for some of the Pendle Leisure Trust team.
Paul Whittaker, Manager at Pendle Leisure Centre in Colne, said: “We all had our own reasons for wanting to raise money for Pendleside Hospice. Mine was to do something to repay the staff for their support following a thyroid cancer diagnosis in 2014.
“To take on this challenge with the wonderful staff and members at Pendle Leisure Centre was the icing on the cake and gave me an experience I will never forget.“They offered excellent advice and resources when explaining things to my children, as well as offering fantastic stress relief to my close family.
“We are still gathering in all sponsorship, but its looking like we will have raised over £1,000 between us.”
