This week is World Well-being Week and it’s well known that exercise is a great way to help improve your well-being as well as your fitness levels.
When it comes to working out, there are lots of options – gym, swimming, running… there are endless possibilities and opportunities for you to find the exercise that works for you!
But what about group workouts? Group fitness classes are available at most gyms and are something we’ve all tried once or twice. They’re a fun way to shake up your routine and do something different, but there are real benefits to regular group fitness sessions. Check out our top 5 perks…
Motivation
Group classes are super-motivating as you’re working out with dedicated, like-minded people. With the instructor’s help, everyone works hard and you’ll find you dig that little deeper and push yourself further than working out solo. Plus, by booking a class, you’re less likely to skip a workout.
Support
Motivation goes hand-in-hand with support – without the support of your instructor and class buddies, your workout may not be the same. Not only are your instructors there to guide and support you, but they’ll show you the proper technique so that you’re executing each exercise correctly. This will help you get the most out of each workout and reduce injuries too.
Social
There’s no denying that group workouts are much more social than gym sessions on your own. You can attend with friends or family and it’s a great place to meet new, like-minded friends who’re working towards the same goal. In a recent survey, we found our members loved the social and family-like atmosphere of our gyms!
Health
It goes without saying that exercise is good for your health and well-being. Fitness classes offer a range of options, so whether you’re looking to lose weight and improve your cardio or work on your strength, you’re bound to find something that suits your needs. Plus, with beginner classes and low impact workouts available, such as pool-based classes, they’re ideal even if you’re a newbie.
Variety
If nothing else, classes offer heaps of variety! There are lots of classes to choose from, including strength or cardio based, low impact exercises and even classes in the pool – they’re a great way to try something new and shake up your workout routine.
