#BenToBen Challenge - Raring to go!

Friday, 8th April 2016

A great training week!

Last week was a good week's training. I had a quiet start to the week with a rest day Monday followed by a gym session on Tuesday, a short run on Wednesday and a rest day Thursday.

Friday started with an early morning run. I left my house with my headtorch on at 5.30am to do a 10 miler. The sunrise at 6.30am was well worth the early start. I had a short day at work on Friday before we set off to Inverness to cycle the Great Glen way.

12 of us had travelled up to Scotland in a van and a mini bus. 10 of us left Inverness on Saturday to cycle the 42 off road miles planned that day. We were blessed with really nice weather and plenty of tough Scottish hills to negotiate. We were rewarded with some amazing views of Loch Ness and the surrounding areas. It was a long day in the saddle, finishing the day about 6pm Saturday evening at the Hostel in Fort Augustus.

Sunday started with a few sore legs (and heads from the single malts). 33 miles on Sunday would take us to the end of the Great Glen way in Fort William. Sundays riding was a lot easier than Saturday with the terrain being a lot flatter. We were in Fort William by 1.30pm and in the pub to celebrate by 2pm!

My leg and stomach (from laughing) muscles had a very good work out. It was great to finish the weekend in the same place as I will be starting my challenge in just under 2 weeks' time.
