We often read about new fad diets or the latest weight loss craze, but these tend to be unhealthy. By following a few simple tips and focusing on a clean diet and a regular workout routine, you can jump-start your weight loss journey in a healthy and lasting way.
Although you may think you're reducing calories by skipping meals, this is actually an unhealthy habit which won't help you lose weight. By doing this, you will miss out on essential nutrients and might end up eating more snacks during the day.
Eating at regular times will also help you burn calories faster and reduce the temptation to snack. In any case, skipping meals or starving yourself are not good weight-loss methods and can even be dangerous for your health.
Even small changes in your diet can help you lose weight. Certain foods have the power to speed up your metabolism, provide you with the energy you need throughout the day and also help you suppress cravings and feel full and satisfied for longer. For example, green tea and high protein foods, such as eggs and fish, speed up your metabolism and help suppress your appetite. Drinking green tea also helps you hydrate your body better.
Oats and apples are also excellent foods to help you feel full and satisfied. Foods rich in antioxidants, such as berries, grapefruit, red bell peppers, watermelon and spinach, also help you lose weight while boosting your energy and brainpower. Avoid condiments, such as oil and dressings, which often are full of calories you may not even realise you're consuming.
While there are many excellent fitness programmes to choose from, it is important that you ultimately choose a form of exercise that you enjoy. This will help you determine what you need to do to reach your fitness goals while taking into consideration your preferences.
Do you enjoy swimming? It's a great addition to any workout as it gives you a full body workout, burns calories and helps you de-stress and relax. Do you perhaps prefer yoga or pilates? They are excellent workouts to improve focus, de-stress and also improve your posture. Whatever your aims, it's important to choose a form of exercise you enjoy, as that will keep you motivated and help you reach your fitness and weight loss goals more easily.
